Paige’s first soccer game was Saturday morning. The other team was so big compared to hers. Paige’s team is pretty tough though. At practice last week they all got wound up and took the field screaming – a small herd of first/second graders yelling while running right at you can be pretty terrifying. Really, it can.
Paige is the one in the grey top with a black top underneath (#7).
There wasn’t much action on defense right off the bat.
Cadence was busy charming the crowd.
She got tired and hung out with Grandpa P for a while.
Paige is on the right.

Every 3-5 minutes that swap players so none of them have to sit out for too long. Paige was more interested in the net than watching her teammates get kicked around. Seriously, the black team was brutal – lots of kids got pushed around, elbowed, tripped and trampled. Most of them took it like champs.
Break #2 was spent reading something.
Brining it in at half-time
The little guy on the right got carried off the field after the third time he got knocked down. I think he had had enough.
Paige took a close-range ball to the head – kicked from just a few feet in front of her. I think it scared her more than it hurt her. She sat out with me for a few minutes before the tears subsided. I told her that sometimes she has to use her head to knock the ball down in soccer ;) She wasn't buying it. Then I told her that it’s not too often that you take a ball to the head accidentally and that it probably wouldn’t happen again. I asked if she was ready to go back in and she said yes (that’s my girl!) but asked if she could wear a helmet. lol.
Game #2 is next weekend.
